Discover and Experience the transforming adventure of life in Jesus Christ!

Faith Journey was planted in 2003 to be a “church in the marketplace”.  The desire was to be present and available where people “do life” every day.

The mission of Faith Journey Church is to lead people to discover and experience the transforming adventure of life in Christ! The vision of our church is to glorify and exalt our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, to make true disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support, to minister the ordinances, to edify believers, and to do all that is possible to magnify the name of Jesus.

Our Values

The Faith Journey Church family is aware that we are not the only church in the greater Olathe area.  We join them in prayer and service to the Olathe community, especially Original Town Olathe.  We do, however, have some unique values that guide and direct how we accomplish the mission we believe God has revealed to us.

Our StaffFB_IMG_1469099649397

Our staff recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Where do I go…

Currently, Faith Journey is meeting for
Sunday Services at Olathe South High School.  Please check our Service Times & Location
page for additional information and sudden changes.
…and what do I wear?
At Faith Journey we value authenticity.  It’s what makes us so comfortable around one another since we do not have to try to be “someone we are not.”  We also understand what it is like to visit some place new, especially if we do not know anyone.  Therefore, feel free to be yourself .  You will find most of us in nice casual wear and jeans–some even wear their nice shorts if the weather warrants.  Of course, if men desire to wear a suit coat and tie and ladies prefer a dress, you may do so.  You will find that Faith Journey’s focus is on the character of our hearts as opposed to style of clothing.
How Do I Meet People?
One of the ways we meet and connect with one another is gathering for weekly worship.  Every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. we join together at our Faith Journey Cafe to share breakfast foods and a morning coffee.  Then, we all go to the worship center at 10:30 for morning worship.  Of course, young people and children have an opportunity to interact with their specific age groups as well.  The youth (6th – 12th graders) meet for Bible Learning and Breakfast (BLAB ) at 9:45.  Children also meet; however, they meet during part of the worship hour.  God’s Clubhouse and Journey Kids
are dismissed during the Meet and Greet time of our worship service.
There are additional opportunities for fellowship throughout the month as well.  Many have decided to connect with one of our Spark Groups.  Faith Journey values Discipleship and Spark Groups are a way to achieve that goal of becoming more like Jesus Christ.  You can learn more about these opportunities on our EVENTS page.
Today we dedicate altars for use in our church.
Q: Why do we have altars?
A: Altars are, simply, a place [certainly not the only] where we encounter God.
Q: Is there a Biblical precedent for altars?
A: Noah built the first recorded altar in the Bible. Abraham marked many important spiritual moments in his life with an altar. The Bible records many other times when people built and offered sacrifices at an altar.

Altars were used for many expressions: for thanksgiving, praise, repentance, and for complete surrender to God’s will.

Q: When did altars change from stone altars of sacrifice to wooden benches?
A: During the Great Awakening in America the evangelists of the time searched for ways to help people respond immediately to God’s call. “Mourner’s benches” or altars evolved as this special place.
Q: What is the difference between an “altar call” and an “open altar?”
A: An altar call is when people are invited to respond to God’s message and make an immediate, definite response.  An open altar is when people come to the altar to connect to God and share whatever struggles, concerns and hopes they have at that time.

Invited to Participate…

One of the things that we notice about the ministry of Jesus is that he met people where they lived. He was in the marketplace, the Temple, the village squares, the town synagogues, and people’s homes.  He did not expect people to come to him but was active in seeking them.  Those whom Jesus encountered were invited to follow Him…to participate with Him in Kingdom building.  In fact, Jesus only called participants; He never called for spectators.  This is something we highly value at Faith Journey, and why we encourage all those who attend to discover what it means to be a Disciple.Great Commish

Why we Serve?

Jesus told us, His disciples, to make disciples of all nations (not just Olathe).  Therefore, another important value of Faith Journey is our mission to the world.  It begins in downtown Olathe and spreads overseas.  Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as cleaning the church or preparing church bulletins, to assisting at homeless shelters or accepting to be a missionary in Kenya. And, you may not realize just how impactful your efforts at serving and investing in others can be until you see it through the eyes of a little girl who loved “coco…”  (click here to see her letter)

Where Can I Serve?

There are various options available when it comes to serving one another by participating and attending one of the following smaller groups.  Please feel free to click on any of the following ministry areas for a more detailed explanation as well as that ministry’s coordinator…
Faith Journey believes in the power of praying to God to show each of us His will and collectively His church.
Faith Journey is in no rush to fill positions because they exist.  We must begin by praying that God will have His longings fulfilled before we ever begin to think and discuss a particular area of Ministry by name.  We can be confident in knowing that the Creator God has just the right place for each of us where He will make known and display our individual passion for others.
May we as a community of believers always seek to Glorify and expand His kingdom on earth.  We welcome you to join in with us in this Journey of Faith.
This linked list are known areas and current opportunities for ministry for you to pray for God’s leadership and and dirwection for yourself and Faith Journey.

Worship through giving…

Another way to participate in Kingdom building at Faith Journey is through giving. Sacrificial giving is another value of Faith Journey.  We respond to Jesus’ expectation to give of our time, talents, and treasures.  Many of us look forward to the first Sunday of each month–we call it First Fruits Sunday, where we offer to God the “first fruits” of our earnings.  Yet, every Sunday is an opportunity to participate in what we call Generous, Global, Giving (or G3).  Our G3 giving allows us to support the costs of ministry to our local community as well as missions around the world.
Faith Journey also values integrity and accountability in all aspects of life.  When you give, you can be assured that your donations will be used as designated.  Giving is also easier. With just a click of your computer’s mouse or the touch of your finger, you can be connected to eGiving or Paypal.  With eGiving, you can track your annual giving and report charitable donations for your tax return.  Whether you use eGiving or PayPal we will provide you your giving statement after December 31 for the tax year.
